Yup. Long time no post. But thanks for the re-invite.
Ain't done much boating in years. I haunt our favorite sites on occasion just looking for somthing to talk about. But that's really hard to do when every time I get a boat on the water, something catistrophic happens with the boat and puts my summer plans on hold for another season. Ever walk into a Sports Bar for some good beer and a good game and find out that you nothing about the sport thats playing on the big screen? Yeah, kinda' like that.
The last time I actually got on the water and made it back to the launch was two years ago on fathers day. And that almost didn't happen if my Dad hadn't used his Super-Human Grip to hold the stater on the Rude 88 to get it started.
But I keep at it. throwing my time and dollars into a hobby that ultimately fails every time I try...You may remember way back when I was constantly picking up free Glastrons just about every other month? Well that changed into ALL brands of vintage or classic fiberglass boats. Most if not all were stripped and sold off for parts so that I could build up enough scratch for another attempt at a good seasons worth of boating.
Last summer i aquired a 1961 Performer "Vagabond" 16 footer. (free) did a buch of work on the powerhead and interior then ran out of money. (again) this year was my chance. But once again the great boating Gods said "Nope". Burned up all my cash on trailer upgrades then, like always, mechanical disaster struck in the middle of Folsom Lake (Ca.) the clutch dog in the lower unit of the 1961 40hp Johnny blew out. Imagine having to putt back to the launch in reverse ony... Not fun.
Fleet Update:
1969 V-176 Swinger - Davey Jones Locker
1973 V-156 Sportser - Traded for a 2005 Paraordinance P-14 .45 LDA
1971 CV-16: Still under wraps. No expected date for resurection.
1961 Performer "Vagabond" 16': Thinking about trailering back to the guy who gave it to me and block his driveway with it.
I'll get a "wet" spell sometime. I just know it. The spot on the wall that I continuosly bang my head on has not yet boke thru. So I'm thinking there is still hope.
