New Family Member.....Boat Named Rosie...Whole Lotta o Rosie AC/DC

Well .... I was cruising the boat for sale adds for a friend and found this 1998 Crownline 202 Bow Rider $2000 below NADA.  Its not perfect...lots of Dock Rash, upholstery rips but the hull and engine look great and Magnum tandem axle 7500 lb trailer.  Chev 305.  Well maintained all new hoses spark plug wires etc.

I mentioned it to Jen and she said what color?  Marroon and White.  Does it have a Bimini?...I said yes a walk under.  Does it have lots of room?....YES!  She said how much do you need me to chip in?.... I feel claustrophobic in Pizzaz....ouch!  She kept that in for a few years. :(    Well anyway I found the gear lube reservoir tube disconnected from the transom area and found lots of lower unit oil in the bilge area.  I jewed him down another $600.  I tried for another $1000 but I thought he was going to cry.  He said you blank, blank Kansas Germans...are Tight!  His last name was Yost.   Yosts and Unruhs both came from Germany/Russia to Kansas in 1880s.

Here are a couple of pics along with a copperhead Jen found on her Dad and Mom's place near Fayetteville, TX.   And do you remember Matt, Jen's brother from Broken Bow trip....well it looks like he is going to finish up at A&M with an Electrical Engineer Degree.  See pic of Matt's Aggie Ring Day with proud sister...

Oh by the way we had to take out the back seat and sundeck bracing to get to see and get to the lower gear lube connector.  I said "hell" Red does it everyday why can't we do it once  :)

Larry

PS:  The Crownline/Trailer is about 300 lbs lighter than Pizzaz/Trailer combo??

We went out for the second time in the new boat the next day with Matt to Gibbons Creek.  He needed to study but he blew it off....Matt said he wanted to experience all of boating...kiss of death.  Well after floating and drinking and fishing we decided to head to an area of the lake we had not been to.  Well about 80-100 yards away from the low water buoy....we ran aground... skipping over rocks gravel and thank goodness moss.  We were running about 40 mph.  I new immediately...I hit the key and then we came to a stop and about 1 inch of cold water came into the boat and sprayed way over the bow.  Anyone that has experienced this understands what I am talking about.  I said crap...no sand or mud in the in the boat just water.  We were rocking high centered in 25-30 MPH winds and then I saw rocks out to our RIGHT! away from the bank.  Mr. Army Matt Jumped out and then Jen to hold the boat and they said which way.  I looked ahead and saw rocks...I said push it back the way we came in AGAINST the waves and wind.... Finally, got it in 2-3 foot of water and they jumped in and I pushed as hard as I could because the wind was blowing us into the shallow water.  I hit the start switch and away we went with a little less fiberglass on the bottom and less black paint on the skeg but we still had a lower unit and 4 Blades.  Good to go.  The pictures are from a protected cove after the mishap.  Matt said is there anything else I need to experience in boating and I said yes getting high centered on a stump..yep it happened going out...Yep the old reverse and pray after trying to push it off the stump.  Well all in all a great day.

Larry

Love your attitude Larry,   "all n all a good day"

Glad you all got in safe.   That story reminded me of the trip me and Barb took her Intimidator out for a trial run,  just befor sunset, 73 mph 5300 rpm and the drive locked up, mile and half away from the dock.  Good thing Barb had a cell phone, no one else on the lake, she called the rescue team, hour later they found us, in the dark, no moon, towed us in, we got home just before 11 pm

Just another boating experience ..
