So what is everyone doing this 4th of July? We were going to do a repeat of fireworks on the Red River but the other party had to change plans. Now we are scambleing looking for something else to fill the 5 day weekend we scheduled off. Someone atleast get pictures, it is worth a thousand words.
Don't have any "plans" really. I'm thinking about just staying around close to home. Probably have some friends/family over for a fireworks shoot. I live in an area where we can set them off in the yard. There's plenty to keep the kidos occupied and happy. The start of this summer has been quiet eventful. Between tornados, hail and torential rain, we've not had the time or weather to have a lot of lake time. I'm hoping that changes real fast. We need, really need some peace and some lake time.

Boy, you ain't whistling dixie. It's been totally insane. It's going to get better though. I picked over 100lbs of wild blackberries over the past two weeks. Still got about 60lbs frozen. I got 5 gals of blackberry wine makin and made 15 - 1/2 pints of blackberry jelly last night. Stuff is fantastic! I licked the pan after the jars were filled. mmmmmmmmm

And Thirsty. My mom in Kansas scores a lot of blackberry. Makes more of a thick syrup than jam. Awesome on pancakes. I have one Blackberry plant that did alright this year. Just enough to taste and the wife to put in smoothies? Please tell me men don't drink smoothies. Don't sound right.
Funny you say that about the consistency of the jelly. Mine turned out more pourable as well. The last batch I made I followed the directions to the letter, same outcome. This time I added extra pectin and cooked it 10x longer than they say. Maybe it's gonna set later, but damn, it ain't easy doing what my grandma did with her eyes shut!
I'm just saying. Men don't drink smoothies. Now blend a little ice and tequila we can talk. The concoction that helps me hang on.
