Yack, yack, yack! Here's a good story for ya! I bought a '68 Bellboy for the motor, and to use all the parts off of it to use on my project boat. I stripped off all the parts, and was just going to scrap the boat hull. My wife convinced me to put it on a free local classified website for $40 just to see if anyone would take it. I posted it as a fishing boat fixer-upper, and suggested other uses such as an oversize planter, a big bird bath, a coy pond, if you tipped it up and angled it right you could use it as a satellite dish, if you tipped it over you could use it as a very heavy umbrella, fiberglass sunscreen, a place to hide from your wife, or kids even! Well, apparently I missed one because some guy called me up and wanted to buy it because he wanted to make it into a giant sandbox for his kids! He was going to bury it part way so it looked like it was floating in his lawn, and then fill it up with sand! How cool is that?!? Also, it would be up high enough that all the cats in the neighborhood couldn't use it for their own personal litter box. He even had an old boat cover that he was gonna use to cover it when not in use so leaves and junk wouldn't get into the sand either! Tell me what you think, good idea, or waste of a perfectly good boat??

I think its a great idea and use. I am in the Home Building/Remodel side of the world and always look at ideas like that. I watched a program on Wealth TV and the homeowner had a bar built out of an old Mahogany boat cut in half lenghth wise, so when you walk up its the side of the boat and you just park yourself on a bar stool. A bar top, shelving and such was added obviously but was unseen until you were close.
I have also thought of using that application in a backyard party/cookout environment or if I ever get to the point in life of owning a lakehouse or dockominium to put on one.
Cool ideas for an old boat. My brother is 98 percent done restoring a mahogany. 1959 Yellow Jacket. Made in Denison. I think he contacted Old Reds at some point when he bought it. Here it's getting to hot to boat almost. Good rains though this spring so get into creeks I haven't been for a while.
I gave my 58' Sureflite to a guy that was going to make an outdoor bar on his patio with the bow. He said he'd cut it in half just behind the dash and fashion it to his patio some how. I've not seen it, but sounded like a good idea to me.
