Johnson 70hp - Starts fine but needs extended warmup to run??
My 70hp Johnson starts just fine but requires several false launches and throttle feathering to get going? Tried extended warmup period but still not cooperating very well. Just when you're ready to say 'Screw this!" she decides to take off and run perfect. Anyone shed some light on this? Had the carbs done just last Nov 2008 and fresh mix gas is in the tanks. Fuel line has a good bulb and everything seems in order but still stubborn to leave the gate on time............ Thx for helping a newbie like me,,,,, I need all the help I can get!
RE: Johnson 70hp - Starts fine but needs extended warmup to run??
Actually I took the cowling off this evening and took a look around. On the throttle linkage there was a spring that seemed not to be doing it's thing so well. It was connected to the center carb linkage but hanging up on the throttle linkage when full power was applied. I snapped it back into what seems logical and the linkage looks like it operates better and the carb linkage doesn't hang open when the throttle handle up front is put into a less than full power positiion.
Clear as mud......good. Coz I'm not as good at illustrating my thoughts nearly as good as I can talk about them. I'll sneak home early from work sometime this week and take the Lucas Belle out for a mid week spin. Feel almost naughty! lolzzzz
I'll report back with the results later this week.
Thx!
