First Trip To The Lake This Year

I took TJ out to the lake for the first time this year.  She ran great!  50mph @ ~5000.  The air was warm, but the water is Damn Cold!  I didn't get any pictures, but I managed to shoot a short video before the batteries died.  Can't prepare for everything!  I thought it was set for pics, but it wasn't.  I'll post the youtube link when it's loaded.

I'm on Lake Travis in Texas so I can go out most of the year. Water temp already 63 here. Ready for the summer. We need rain though. the lakes 40 ft below full and close to 20 ft below average. I tried to post an intro yesterday but it never posted. Will try again.

OH YEAH!

Thanks Billy.  They built the Thunderjet for only 1 year.  It's a nice ride.

It's not as fast as the CVX-16 but it's more stable and handles better.

Very nice boats. What Lake do you like to up there? I'm in Texas. But i'm originally from Pittsburg Kansas. Lived in Coffeyville KS. and Tulsa also.
I just read your older posts. You must be on Thunderbird.
Know that OK. red dirt.

BillyB,

Welcome to BoatRant, this sight is easy to navigate and we have some welcoming members.
Not sure what all the plans are yet, we had some awesome runs last year as you may see in the Meets and Lake sections.
I think the only thing planned so far is July 4th at Red River, basically a free for all. It's only March so stay tuned.
I hear the Lakes are low down South, there were some members from there that chimed in last season just haven't heard from any yet this year.

First Trip To The Lake This Year

Ok Ill watch. My lake, Travis Lake is low. My ramp is still in the water. I'm on the tail end so would recomend toward the head of the the lake or better wait till it fills back up. Hope soon it's great full. Can cruise in the creeks and sit under trees in the summer heat. Have family in Kansas so drove over Texoma Denison Dam.. Looked a a little down but ok to me. Don't know were that one is at normal. Is that the red river lake your talking about? The 4th is far out but very doable. No problem watching this site, enjoy it.
Thanks

Hey BillyB, I'm up near Sherman and consider Texoma my home lake. Sitting right at normal now maybe a foot down is all. The new lake manager is doing a great job keeping the level as constant as possible. Not too high or too low. The last mgr was worthless.

Yeah, Thunderbird is my home lake. My grandpa ran heavy equipment on the building of the dam. My dad delivered fuel to the main site. My family used to swim in the Little River before the lake was built and they knew familes whose homes were flooded. Lots of history here for me. I only live 11 miles from it.
My favorite is Texoma. I like to visit at least one new lake a year in Oklahoma. Haven't picked one out for this year yet.

Got a little work done on the 18 today. Mostly painted resin on parts.

What do you know about Broken Bow, SE corner OK.? Not a huge lake but maybe scenic crusing.
I'm up for Texoma sometime this summer. I'm a tent camper and already spoted some places there.
Hope we can get some old boats together some weekend. Would be cool for me.

Broken Bow is awesome!  We have an event planned for the last week in August in memory of our friend Fred Sauer.  It's beautiful and the water is clear as a bell.

Looks nice. Always looking for a good meeting place for me in Texas, and my family in Kansas/Missiouri.
Looks like an 8 hour drive for me.
Maybe invite myself in August.

We always take our dogs. Wouldn't be right without them!!!! Everyone is welcome to Broken Bow.  As Mark said it is awesome....there are just no other words to describe it.  There are cabins and they have a nice camping area. I will have to get the info on that. If you're interested just let me know and I will get a number for you. It's always pretty busy there so I suggest that you make reservations.  Almost everyone that comes has older boats, but not everyone has Glastrons, It doesn't matter we just like the socializing. And Jeff brought a margarita machine last year!!! There's pet, kids, just about anything goes! So plan to join us, it will be Great!
