I noticed I was developing a soft spot behind the drivers seat so I decided to start the demo. I will gut it out and have it going real quick. I just wish it was a little cooler since I have to do it outside. I put up the canopy I used at Texoma (10x20) so I won't be in direct sun!
Well I haven't been able to fully commit much time on the floor due to a 9-5 gig I have to go to every day. So far I have about 4-5 hrs in it and I am still digging out that cruddy foam they put in!!! It's a tedious task and as soon as I am past this point I should be able to make some head waves. Problem is, We have a couple trips planned, 1 unknown and the other is at http://www.lantanalodge.us/ on Oct 17th weekend. So it looks like 2 of the next 3 weekends will be off linits to work on the floor.
Well looks like the weather will hold out and the rain will pass, so I will jump back in on the floor and see what I can get done, I goofed off last weekend and did nothing. I plan on using Mahogany for the stringers because we all know plywood rots and the old wooden boats were done in Mahogany and very seldom do they rot. Cypress plywood is what I will use for the flooring deck, it is disease and rot resistant by nature and it's what we use when building outdoor cabinets and kitchens. Yes expensive material but so are boats and I don't want to do this again.
Ok so I'm a slacker, didn't do a thing saturday so today I went and picked up my little brother and we got after it. Managed to get it framed in, gas tank in, resined up and 1 layer of glass on the outside stringers while listening to the Cowboys get their tail kicked. Ran out of effort and time but got a bit done and I'm happy with that. So far I would guess 10 hrs into it, count my brothers hit at miss time and its more like 18 man hrs. Here's few picks, nothing fancy and quite a ways to go.
Looks good Glenn! I thought you had a buyer for that Caravelle, did you change your mind? Also, I guess the CGOA took a dump this weekend? Have not been able to access since Friday, how about you? I almost got the 5.7 from the CV23 back together yesterday, just the oil pan and accessories and then I'm going to mount it to a pallet and fire her up for the first time since the day I picked it up. I figured it was a good time to do it since it rained most of the day. I was thinking of putting it in the V212 but the more I look at this deal, the more I'm thinking about selling it on ebay and upgrading for the Cv23 project. See ya.
I want to go!! I'll just have to talk Debra into letting me since she leaves that Monday for New York. Send Mark and Jeff an email lets see what they say!
I managed to stay home this weekend, woohoo. My little brother and I got the floor put in, ski locker hole cut, belt sanded it all smooth and put a coat of resin down. The days are shorter now so evening are out so hopefully next weekend I'll get a layer of glass down and carpet installed.
Carpet went down today,,,WooHoo. My brother and I got it down today, all thats left is the front kick panels and put the seats in and it's a done deal. So far I think we have a total of 25 man hour in it. In reality I think it can be done with 2 people in about 10 hrs, but then again we had no agenda.
