I finally stepped up and joined the millinium and bought an Ipod. The thing will hold 20,000 songs(80 gigs), WOW, I am sure there are that many out there but if I could remember the names of only a thousand I would call that a miracle. Doesn't take long to spend the money on Itunes store. I guess with time I will figure it out, I have already purchased the fm transmitter that everyone can tune in to a selected channel so we don't have ten stations playing. Only about 3 weeks until Texoma, hopefully I won't spend all my money on Microsoft and save a little for the fun stuff!!
Cool deal yeah ipods are the rage right now, when you get ready to replace your radio in your boat be sure to get a ipod direct cable! Kenwood makes one that can charge your ipod and control it from the head unit, so it can safely be tucked away while you browse tunes from your head unit!
I just bought this deck. Very nice. So far? My last Kenwood (Marine) only lasted a year? CD drive malfunctioned? Bought another so it would be compatible with the Kenwood Remote from the previous deck. I dont have an Ipod, but one of those little Sansa MP3 players. This deck is not marine, but where it is mounted should not be in the elements. Wish me luck!
sorry to hear your old HU died, the new kenwoods are really feature rich, like the front usb ports for flash drives yours has! Kenwood is normally really good about the warranty if you still have the marine one you might give them a call to see if it's still under warranty!
If you have the tuner installed the only cost is the activation and monthly fee, which are not to bad ($50 and $10 per month, if you have it on another vehicle it goes down). I got it for my suburban after we got it on the boat which brought the monthly down to $7.
My Caravelle came "Satellite ready". Which meant I had to buy the turner and antennae to plug into the back of the thing. Cost for that was equivalent to an Ipod ($200 - $350) depending on if you want to install it yourself. I had the dealer install it (required cutting fiberglass to install antennae).
I love it and consider it a requirement on all vehicles going forward (both land and sea).
