Several projects complete. One of which was to replace the wood in my rotten engine covers. I went the simple/cheap route and reused my existing upholstery + new buttons. I removed each staple and carefully salvaged the wood. I brought it to work and drew it up on CAD and matched the drawings up using mylar drawings from the plotter. We have a CNC router that we use to cut dieboards with. I sent the file to the 'Gerber' and cut it out of Melamie coated Birch 1/2" Perfect match to the original. Very pleased with the results. Now for mounting. I searched Home Depot and Lowes for SS Tee nuts. No Luck. Could have ordered them online? Just didnt want to wait. Went to ACE hardware. BINGO! Nearly $2 each! WTH! I needed 20 + Bolts & washers. So I take my little $50 bag of SS goodies to the counter. "I hate to do this to you, but I could not find a pen to write down the info on all these parts." > "No problem. Just tell me how many of each." "20 Tnuts. 20 washers. 20 Bolts." She rings it up. >"That'll be $8.69?" "OOPS!" > "Is that too much?" "No. No. Honey, these Tnuts are nearly $2 each. I have been looking everyhere for them. You may want to ring that up again?" > "I havent been called 'Honey' all day! Give me $8.69 Darling!" Wink Wink! She rang them up as 20@ .12, 20@ .13, 20@ .14. Got to love Tennessee! Whoopie! Made my Day!
Looks good, I keep wanting to use our CNC for stuff like that but shutting it down during the week to play is impossible and when the weekend comes,,,well No working during drinking hours!
