Well, we headed to Lake Whitney again for the 4th and had and "eventful" trip.  . . .  centipedes, a little spider...tarantula?? and there were critters in the wall behind the bathtub at our lake side cabin.  The first big fiasco was trying to pull the boat from the slope I had parked it on so the downpour would drain out the rear. After the nightime rain the 4Runner just spun in the wet gravel.  We had to find a Big Dodge Diesel with 4 wheel drive to finally get the boat up on flat land.  Then we headed to the lake and had clouds, no wind and a few showers.  The lake was so beautiful I decided to head 6-7 miles upstream to find some empty coves.  Well things were just great until we decided to leave late in the first day and then I went to shift into forward and pop. something gave in the shifter....after a few choice words....can you say tention....about being stranded in the middle of no where....I remembered Jimmy from Alabama in college shifting his mercruiser from the motor.....Well what a good feeling when we disconnedted the cable and pushed the mechanism backwards and wala we had forward.  We cruised around the lake for the next two days shifting in the back.   We also witnessed a fire starting from kids shooting fireworks and Jen yelled big time to the houses above and I honked the horn.....Mom ran down and stomped out the fire.  It could have been bad.  The only problem with the law was the Park Ranger was issuing tickets to people driving golf carts......something about not a road worthy vehicle and saftey....BS.  Money to pay for his 50K pickup.

Here are a few pics. Oh I forgot about the guy that beached his boat. He went into a shallow area and the lake was down 5 feet ....opps....... Lake Whitney highly recommended....
